The Middletown Transition Center (MTC) is looking for new opportunities and partners to collaborate with in the community to support the mission of our students and help provide real-world learning experiences inside some of our local businesses.

The Middletown Transition Center serves students with special education services ages 18-22, providing a supportive environment to allow them to develop the skills necessary to transition successfully into adult life.

The Middletown community has greatly supported the mission of the Middletown Transition Center by offering some of these students job training at a variety of businesses throughout the area, including hardware stores, a consignment store, school cafeterias, pharmacies, and more.

The community-based training allows these students an opportunity to set and manage workplace expectations, develop positive relationships with employers, colleagues, and others, and provide them with a strong sense of independence and belonging in the workforce, as well as in our city.

These opportunities will allow students to flourish and become more accustomed to serving a vital role in society, and it is through the support of local businesses that these opportunities are made possible. 

The demand for these kinds of opportunities continues to grow, and as the District anticipates more students enrolling at MTC, the need for new and additional job sites within the area grows as well. The District is looking for any interested businesses and business owners to Vacianna Spaulding at spauldingv@mpsct.org or Lynn Durham at durhaml@mpsct.org to discuss setting up a partnership and welcoming our MTC students to their business.
